Rare Students Collection. The Philippine Report started in the year 1901 has the compilations of Philippine Supreme Court Decisions. The first volume was dubbed as "1 Phil". Page number was then attached. Example: "1 Phil 27" means Volume 1 of the Philippine Report and page number 27. "8 Phil 88" means Volume 8 of the Philippine Report page 88.
In 1961, a private company created another compilations of Philippine Supreme Court Decisions. The same format was applied, [Volume Number] [Name of Book] [Page Number].
The only problem with these format is that the year the decisions were made was not obvious.
In 1999, Alex Valdez and Sony Valdez of Agoo Computer College, created !e-library! A Century of Philippine Supreme Court Decisions, the format for every decisions was [Year][V/R][Number][EDSC]
where: V= Decision
R= Resolution
E= En Banc
D= Dissenting Opinion
S= Separate Opinion
C= Concurring Opinion
Thus, the citation has a new format.
